ABOUT ME:

My name is Shelah Hansen and I am so excited to be stepping in as principal at Academy Endeavour Elementary!  I am a mix of West Coast and Southern Hospitality having spent my elementary years in southern California, and my teen and college years in the suburbs of Houston.  In 2008, I moved to Colorado in hopes of bringing myself closer to the outdoors and never looked back (since moving, I have actually convinced my sister and my parents to head this way as well!).  I grew up serving my church community in the children's department and that is where my love for teaching and working with young ones developed-I knew in Middle School that I wanted to be an educator.

I graduated from Texas A&M University (WHOOP!) with a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Development in 2003.  During my time in the classroom I taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades, and English Language Development to Second Language Learners K-5 (in both small group and co-taught models).  In 2008, I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Master's degree in Educational Administration and Leadership.  I left the classroom in 2013 and took on the role of a district Instructional Coach in Harrison School District 2 where I led professional development, and supported building administrators with growing and coaching teachers in their building.   I have spent the last 4 years as an Assistant Principal at a middle school with almost 1100 students in the Fountain Fort Carson School District where I oversaw both 6th and 8th grades during various years.  I am thrilled to be returning to the elementary world with a greater understanding of what life looks like for our students as they transition into middle school and into high school, and to be serving Academy District 20.  As an ASD20 parent myself, I feel so honored to be a part of the D20 team and to serve this community as principal.

MY FAMILY:

My husband and I are both educators and we have two kids who are 7 and 5.  Our oldest daughter, Sawyer, will be a 2nd grader and our son, Owen, will be a kindergartener, and both will be attending school with their dad!  We love to camp, hike, and spend time outdoors.  We have a Lab mix that we rescued 10 years ago named Summit who loves to adventure with us when he's not sleeping or being snuggled.
