In the first quarter of music, our musicians became experts on rhythm and mastered the art of percussive instruments.

We’ve learned new songs, developed rhythmic skills through games, played instruments and worked as a team to create incredible music in the music room!

We then studied our Do Re Mi’s and used pitched instruments such as boomwhackers, xylophones and glockenspiels as well as our singing voice (yes - your voice IS an instrument!) throughout the second quarter.

We also explored the art of handbells - they are heavier than they look!

As we end the second quarter, we’re diving into our music technology units and discovering how to make music in a unique (and technological) way.

Our 5th graders are spreading holiday cheer as they close out the semester caroling for all to hear. We are visiting classrooms and performing to get everyone excited for our winter break coming up.

Looking Forward

Once we are back from Winter break, we will be starting up with Music Club - now called Choir Club. This is an after-school singing club for 2nd and 3rd graders. Ms. Doyle will give more information in class and will send home a form for those who are interested in joining. Feel free to reach out with any questions at jessica.doyle@asd20.org.

We are moving forward with our first ever AEES strings club! 4th and 5th graders will be showing off their new violin skills in March during their performance. Stay tuned for more details so you can support these wonderful musicians.
