For Students
Homework should be completed consistently so students can get the most out of their studies. Third through fifth grade students will use their planner as a daily communication tool between home and school.
Missed assignments are the student's responsibility. When a student has a planned absence, they can get their assignments in advance by working with their teachers. They will need at least two days to gather assignments.
Teachers assign homework with the understanding that students are at school during the day and have commitments outside of school. All homework should have clear expectations and be concise, meaningful and relevant. Teachers will provide units of study, timely grades and feedback.
For Parents
Parentsare encouraged to use time guidelines to monitor their child's progress. This will allow parents to know if their child is receiving too much homework or cannot understand a lesson.
Parents should have an open line of communication with their child's teacher. It's helpful if students have a set time and space to do their homework everyday. Parents of students in grades three through five can check their child's planners for homework information.
