Mrs. Shelah Hansen, Principal

I spent my childhood in Southern California surrounded by a large extended family, and then I moved to Texas when I was 12 years old.  After graduating from Texas A&M University in 2003, I taught for 6 years in the greater Houston area and went back to school to get my Master’s in Educational Administration in 2006.  In 2008, I made the move to Colorado-I had always dreamed of living near the mountains and love the view I get every day driving west on my way home in Colorado Springs.

Throughout my career, I have taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades, was an English Language Development teacher and served as a district Instructional Coordinator.  Prior to becoming the principal at Academy Endeavour Elementary in 2020, I spent 4 years as an assistant principal at a large Middle School south of Colorado Springs.  My time at Academy Endeavour as principal has been so rewarding. This staff is truly amazing and our students are so much fun to work with and get to know!  I feel so lucky to be a part of this community.

When I’m not at work, I love spending time with my husband, two children, and our big, sweet lap-dog.  Our family loves to travel, go on camping adventures, go skiing, and spend time at home together watching movies and playing games.

Mrs. Carrie Mitchell, Assistant Principal

I was born and raised in central Illinois, brought up on a Christmas tree farm. I am a Midwesterner at heart, but have grown to love and appreciate the gorgeous mountains here in Colorado.

I began my teaching career at Academy Endeavour, formally Academy Edison Elementary, in 2001. I have had the pleasure of teaching second, first, and kinder grade levels, as well as serving as an interventionist and teacher coach.

My husband Sean and I have been married since 2003. He works in GPS with the Air Force. We have two children— Talon, an eighth grader at Mountain Ridge Middle School, and Claire, a first grader at Academy Endeavour. Our family loves spending time outdoors, visiting with family, and going on trips to new places.

I absolutely love working with the students, families, and staff at AEES! In my opinion, this is the best elementary school in all of Academy District Twenty.
