Breakfast
Breakfast is served from 7:55 to 8:15 a.m. Enter through the green cafeteria door by the garden and ring the doorbell. Students arriving after 8:15 a.m. may not eat breakfast. Breakfast is not served on two-hour weather delays or PLC late-start Fridays.
Menus and Meal Services
Find AEES menus and visit district meal services for meal information. See Student Fees for payment and fee assistance resources.
Snacks and Drinks
AEES is nut-free in all areas outside the cafeteria. Snacks eaten in classrooms, at recess or elsewhere outside the cafeteria must be entirely free of peanuts, tree nuts and nut-derived ingredients. Items labeled “may contain” peanuts or tree nuts are not allowed.
Candy is not permitted as a snack but may be included in lunch. Only water may be consumed in classrooms. Other drinks are set aside for the student to finish at lunch in the cafeteria.
Lunch in the Cafeteria
Students may bring peanut or tree-nut products in their lunches and consume them only in the cafeteria. Each cafeteria table has a designated peanut-free section.
Birthday Invitations and Treats
Food treats may not be brought or distributed at school for birthdays. Nonfood goodie bags may be distributed in class if there is one for every student. Food, flowers, balloons and similar deliveries are held in the office for pickup after school.
Unless every student in the class is invited, distribute invitations before or after school or coordinate directly with families outside school. The grade-level directory can help with digital invitations and playdates. See Family Communication for directory guidelines.
Class Parties
Teachers coordinate three parties each year:
Harvest Party, including Halloween and costume activities.
Winter Party.
Valentine’s Day Party.
Food must be approved by the teacher in advance, store-bought and in its original packaging with a clear nutrition or ingredient label verifying that it is nut-free. Homemade treats are not allowed. Items must not contain peanuts, tree nuts or ingredients derived from or potentially contaminated by nuts, as indicated on the label. Contact the school if you are unsure whether an item is permitted.
