Phones, Watches and Personal Devices
Cell phones and smartwatches with calling or texting capabilities must be turned off and kept in backpacks during school hours. Students may use phones in the office only when deemed necessary.
Personal devices, including Meta Glasses, must not be used to record, distract, create conflict or disrupt learning. Devices that detract from learning are stored in the office until a parent picks them up. Personal devices are brought at the owner’s risk; the school is not responsible for loss, theft or damage.
Dress for School
Parents and students share responsibility for appropriate dress. Choose clothing suitable for Colorado’s changing weather that supports health and safety. Revealing or obscene clothing, or clothing referring to sex, body parts, drugs, alcohol or violence, is not allowed.
Hats and sunglasses are not worn indoors except on special occasions approved by the teacher or school. Hoodie hoods must remain down indoors. See Weather Delays and Closures for outdoor recess expectations.
Personal Items and Lost Property
Obtain teacher permission before bringing personal items to school. Send money or valuables only when necessary, label them clearly and give them directly to the teacher. Field trip fees are paid through Infinite Campus.
Personal items left at school are placed in lost and found. Unclaimed items are donated or discarded at the end of each quarter. AEES is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal property.
School Property
Students are responsible for the loss of or damage to school materials and property. Fines cover replacement costs.
Prohibited Items
Items that can cause harm or serious injury are prohibited on school property. These include:
Spring-loaded or pocket knives
Darts
Firearms, weapons or replicas
Toy weapons
Cigarettes
Drugs
Lighters and matches
Prohibited items and items that disrupt learning are confiscated. Possession may result in suspension or expulsion. A parent or guardian must collect confiscated items. Unclaimed items are disposed of at the end of the school year. No knives, guns, weapons or replicas are allowed on campus.
Transportation Devices
See Arrival and Dismissal for bicycle, scooter, skateboard, rollerblade and other transportation-device rules.
Behavior and Support
See Student Behavior and Safety for REACH, RULER, bullying reporting and safety drills.
